Lower Taxes § Wasteful Spending § Affordable Tuition § Taking A Sound Business Approach |

With the recent and seemingly forgotten 5.8% tax rate increase of the 2005 tax year and the rising thirst for taxes from all public sectors, the TAXPAYER deserves a break! We must regain the respect of the taxpayer if we are to move forward and provide a reasonable. With the looming expectations of the Legislature cutting funding once again the burden will fall harder.

We need affordable tuition. For many College is a lifeline to becoming independent and a contributor to society and one’s family. The last thing we need to do is place a burden on students, parents or Grandparents. A recent board meeting (Feb. ’06) revealed that a possible decline in enrollment was due to “tuition increases.” At a financially critical time in life we cannot afford presently something that will cost us dearly in the future. We must have affordable tuition! |
|
Cut the wasteful spending, perks, travel, Credit Cards and unnecessary building, exorbitantly large stipends* to administrators, Grand Driveways, lobbying by administrators. The board doesn't need catered dinners, “Chop House” lunches, Four Star Resort Hotels and a host of other extravagant luxuries. *refers to the $25-29,000 amounts, not adjunct or overload pay. Click to the Bond Issue link above, and see some of the spending problems that confront this College District and the new board! |

Taking A Sound Business Approach |

An assessment of how well the District is meeting the needs of the community should be performed. Quality education and workforce training is the number one priority; not merely construction of additional infrastructure improvements. Growth patterns sometimes do not occur as demographers project, and the Board should be monitoring the changes taking place in the community, as well as the economy on both a local, and national level. Five-year plans are necessary to prepare for the future; however, adaptability is a prerequisite for rapidly changing times. A cost-conscious, business-like approach to managing the District’s growth is a key ingredient to ensuring the effectiveness of the education that is being provided to those in the community. |

Fair and Reasonable Pay for Faculty & Staff |
|
An assessment of how well the District is meeting the needs of pay for the Faculty in all positions is crucial to a successful educational system. In the past and currently a lot of the instructional load has been placed on the Adjunct staff, while administrators have received the bulk of pay and benefits. If we are to attract and maintain a superior instructional and teaching staff we must consider more closely the remuneration given to all. Some of the open records that we have discovered will tell a better story and a picture that must change. Click here for examples.
